Rough night?

[Here we have a redhead laying on his side on the floor; it would appear that he was sleeping, but he is stirring now. He scrunches his nose slightly before slowly opening his eyes, a frown quickly taking its place on his features.]

Hikaru...

[He sits up on the floor, only to notice that the bed he was expecting to be behind him isn't there. This causes his frown to deepen as he takes a better look at the room to find that he doesn't recognize it at all.

This, of course, prompts a ~~bit of whining~~ dignified objection.] Hikaru~ we agreed there weren't any consequences to that game! Ugh, this isn't even a good prank. Where the hell did he put me?

[...yep, there's the laughing again.] O-oh god... where did Hikaru find you. [This would be Kaoru laughing hard enough that there are tears in his eyes.] Even Haruhi wouldn't wear something like tha-... well, maybe she would, but god...

Some people are pretty weird.

[ H-Hey! What's with the laughing this time?! Luke just sulks, flushing at Kaoru's commentary and apparent amusement at what he can only assume is him. ]

Sh-shut up, dammit! I don't even know who those people are! --stop laughing! There's nothing funny about me!

[Nope, he's not stopping.] It's not even our birthday and he got me a new pet project? [And he just continues to snicker... until he starts to look with an even more critical eye.]

I mean, seriously, I can only assume those are your normal clothes; even commoners don't wear their regular clothes to bed. Although, even forgetting that, those pants... [Is that some more snickering? Kaoru reaches up to wipe some tears of amusement from his eyes.] They're way too big for you; no shape at all. And what the hell is that? [He's totally pointing at your shirt, Luke.] Come on, that look went out for girls years ago, and it was definitely never in for guys.

[ That's enough to make Luke sputter indignantly outright as he takes a step back. ] Pet project?! What are you... [ He can't help but misconstrue the scrutiny as a predator assessing its prey. Which isn't an entirely wrong conclusion to come to, just not the most accurate one. ]

My clothes...?

Now hang on! [ Where the hell does this snooty kid get off on criticizing what he wears? They had only just met, not under the best of circumstances, either! And to compare him to commoners?! ...well, that might be acceptable given it's just his sleepwear. But still--! ]

I wear what's comfortable and convenient, okay? Plus it's not like they're dir-- would you shut it for a minute?! These might be a bit out of date but the material is the finest money can buy! [ All but stomps in place, hugging his bare midriff. Don't mock the abs, punk. ] It wasn't meant to be "in". It's... a personal thing!

[Good job, Luke; you've intrigued and amused Kaoru even further.] Haaah, is that so? [He smirks, taking a few steps closer as he looks down.] ...

...Did you really wear boots to sleep? That's seriously not good for you, you know...

[ Why does everyone ever tease him...? It made sense when he was a total jerk, which he's trying hard not to be. Though Kaoru is making it oh so very difficult. ]

[ Glances down to see that, yes, he does indeed have his shoes on. Huh. ] When you gotta go, you gotta go! I just forgot to take them off, okay? Sheesh...

...

[Yeah, Kaoru's jaw has just gone slack at the fact that you really just said that, Luke.]

[But he gathers himself back together quickly because, really, he's not going to drop to your level of uncultured mannerisms and it's unseemly to stand there with his mouth hanging open. He pushes that all aside with a small cough.]

Well... regardless, at least they're not so bad. I'd wear them, so that says something.

[And now he sighs a little dramatically.] It really is a shame you're such a disaster, though. I mean, you've got a good base to work with, so- ... [But now he narrows his eyes and leans in with a frown.] Once you get rid of the bad dye job, anyway; unless you're doing it for a joke or planning on going with the whole scene look, unnatural red is really just tacky. Please tell me you at least did it yourself... I'd hate to think you actually paid someone to do that to you.

[ Hang around him long enough, Kaoru, and you'll see that he can do worse. Much, much worse. The compliment on his footwear gives Luke a false glimmer of hope that this strange person might be done making a fool out of him. Surely nobody can ramble on about another person's clothes for so long. Right? ]

... [ Or maybe there is. He grudgingly takes the critique like a man sort of, digging the toe of one boot into the floor. Better not say anything about his shoes; they're comfortable, sturdy, and stylish. Luke's head, sporting an offended look that would make Asch proud, pops up just in time to almost collide with Kaoru's. ] What d'ya mean 'unnatural' and tacky?! I'm proud of my hair, thanks very much, and Tear did a good job on fixing the ends!

[Welcome to another lesson on the fact that Kaoru does not respect other people's personal space. He's up close and person as he reaches out to grab a strand of Luke's hair to inspect it.] Haah? I hadn't even gotten to the cut yet; that's easy enough for us to fix, though. The color's just terrible, though. I mean, it's not even practical on top of all of that. It'll wash out way too fast.

[ Oh man, it's almost as bad as having Anise gunning for his wallet, only this guy is busy insulting him on top of everything. Luke's cheeks tinge slightly, and he lets out a quiet surprised yelp when Kaoru goes for his hair. ] I-it's not about to wash out, you! This is the color it's always been! Minus the tips, anyways.

Right, right. Well, lucky for you, I'm not exactly in the mood to verify your story that it's natural. [There's a pointed look down at Luke's crotch before Kaoru looks back up and takes a step away.] Not really my thing, you might say. [Unless, of course, it's to make someone extremely uncomfortable. Then he's all for it. Because it's fun.]

E-eh? [ His eyes follow Kaoru's gaze, earning a choked noise, though he doesn't get the insinuation about his natural color at all. ] Look. I don't even know where we are, let alone who you are, so if you don't mind-- KNOCK IT OFF! [ Before his head explodes from the blood pooling there, please! ]

[This makes Kaoru pause; he blinks at Luke a few times before tilting his head to the side in order to consider him. And then he leans his head back slightly with a small smile that's oddly friendly considering that he was just being critical and enjoying Luke's obvious discomfort.] I was right, you really are that type, aren't you... like 'Milord,' after all. But...

[He shifts his gaze to the side, almost like he's not sure he wants to say what's next, or maybe like he really does mean it.] Well, I guess I did take it a little too far. Sorry about that. It was better than the alternative of wondering where the heck we are, though.

[ Kaoru is officially on Luke's list of Most Confusing Individuals Ever. Still behind Jade, but not by much. Gradually, Luke relaxes once he figures the other has ceased picking on him for the moment and tries not to pout. ] Mother and Father are nobles, if that's what you mean...

[ And all is forgiven~ He inches forward on both knees for a better look at Kaoru's face, smiling brightly. ] Nah, it's okay. I know somebody who gets angry whenever he doesn't know how to handle a situation. But unless you want to stay here, we oughta figure out where here is.

[Kaoru chuckles slightly at Luke's interpretation of his comparison.] Nooot quite, but don't worry too much about it.

Hm. Sounds like a real pill. [He, of course, means that in response to what Luke said about this person he knows. He starts to dust himself off a bit, taking care to adjust his ~~awesomely orange~~ pajama pants in order to remain decent. He pauses for a moment, as though something just came to mind.] Well, thinking about it, Hikaru would be like that to a lesser extent if he got frustrated enough... which he probably would if he's alone... [He smiles a little fondly after saying that, then shakes his head.] Figuring out where we are would be a whole lot easier if my cellphone was here...

[Suddenly, Kaoru frowns.] That's strange...

[ ...and Kaoru was considering his clothing to be an eyesore? ~~Really? Orange pajamas? That's pretty darn weird right there.~~ He's trying hard not to stare at said pants, though it's pretty difficult given that there isn't much else to catch his attention. Who knew sleepwear could be made in a color like that. ]

Okay. ...a pill? [ Luke gives that descriptor some consideration then nods; that's Asch alright. Hard to swallow and bitter a lot of the time. Pardon the random, if quiet, outburst of chuckling from Luke. It's too funny for him to ignore. ] Sounds accurate to me, hehe... [ He settles back down after a moment and blinks, tugging at the hem of his shirt. ] What's wrong?

[If Luke were to say anything, Kaoru would point out that absolutely everything he owns happens to be bold, top-class, cutting-edge fashion, thank you very much. ~~Orange is his favorite color and works beautifully with his hair.~~ His only other option would be to stare at Kaoru's bare chest, I'd imagine, so Luke can be forgiven for staring at the pants. Especially as Kaoru rises from the floor with striking and practiced grace.

He looks rather distant now, though, and a fair bit concerned.] Usually... [He shakes his head slightly.] Usually, I can feel some sense of where Hikaru is. I mean, we'd normally just call stuff like that supernatural, superstitious crap, but we both feel it. Kind of like... a pull towards each other, I guess. Hikaru's found me by that a few times, even. But... but, right now, I can't feel it at all. [Kaoru kind of wraps his arms around himself, rubbing lightly at his upper arms like he's warding off a chill.] It's disorienting.

[ Oh yeah? Well, Luke's belongings are nothing short of the highest quality too, you know! ~~Even if his sense of style is a bit... off.~~ If the derpface was remotely intelligent for moment, he would think to look at Kaoru's face. Instead, Luke is busy marveling over Mr. Literal-Fancypants. Maybe this guy is some kind of performer. ]

...w-wha, really?? [ And now it's Luke's turn to be the invader of personal space, grabbing one of Kaoru's hands with barely contained excitement. ] That's just like what happened with Asch! Do you and this Hikaru person look mostly alike? How about weird things happening when you're together? Do you have all your memories?

[Kaoru blinks at this complete change in behavior; it makes him break out of his melancholy as he raises an eyebrow and smiles slightly in amusement.] We're identical. Ah, well, except that Hikaru dyes his hair so people can tell the difference. [He juuust barely covers up a sly look.] But, strange stuff's always happening around us. [Because they're the ones causing it.]

Hmm... well, I guess I don't remember stuff from when I was really little, but isn't that the same for everyone?

[ That alone is enough to boost Luke's spirits ten-fold. Seeing people even a little bit sad makes him feel like he's failed somewhere along the line. Luke tugs on the end of one of his facetails and grins. ] Wow, we're a lot more alike than I thought. [ Captain Oblivious fails to notice. ] What sort of things? That's if you don't mind me asking.

I only remember the last... [ Hold on, trying to figure this out. ] --seven or eight years, since that was when I was made.

Hmmm. Well, for example, mass loss of consciousness. [>.> So what if that's entirely on purpose because they're flirting with each other to get a rise out of the girls at school?]
